Today will be part 1 of 2 episodes covering the Decatur Illinois 
STALEY LOCK-OUT.

In June of 1993, several hundred workers in Decatur Illinois at A.E. Staley were locked-out in a Labor dispute about the refusal of workers to work rotating 12-hour shifts and the refusal of the new multi-national owners of Staley ( Tate and Llyle ) to address serious saftey issues.

The result of the almost three year lock-out was a watershed event in contemporary American Labor relations.

Tune-in and see two excellent videos about the Staley Struggle ( Deadly Corn and Struggle in the Heartland ) produced by Rose Feuer with soundtrack songs by Anne Feeney. As well as analysis and commentary by your hosts ; Jim Eyman and David Johnson.
