City Councilperson Johnson,

I live in district 5.

Chief Finney has progressively lost the trust of the people of
Champaign. Repeatedly we have warned Finney and the Champaign City
Council that the police need to work to gain the trust and respect of
the people on the north side of Champaign, that their repeated
harassment of individuals, especially young black men, is working
against them.

The Brian Chesley case was more than enough evidence.
Brian was walking out of the open gym basketball night, and a police
officer tried to stop him just to put Brian's information into a
database. This database is a
creepy thing.

Finney has plans to implement tazers. The people of Champaign have
repeatedly told the police that tazers are not to be used here.
Finney has become a known expert on tazers. He has very detailed plans
as to how they will be implemented in Champaign. Just ask him. Finney
does not take no for an answer.
