I don't like Ma Nuo either.

She is known here as a quite typical "worshipping money girl" (bai jin 
nu), and is also generally
referred to as being a "Sha Bi" abbreviated SB for "Stupid Bitch", 
although sha bi is
a bit more crude, closer to the c word that you connot use in polite 
conpany.
In a recent poll of 100000, ~85% of respondents voted that they
dislike her.  Many Chinese males say she has a "Ugly Mouth like a Dog".

She was actually not a TV star per se but actually a walk-on for a
popular talk show based on the Ge You romantic comedy "If you are the One"

She gained some celebrity from the notoriety of her statement afterwards.

There have been a few cases of drivers backing over their victims to 
kill them
rather than suffer the greater economic penalty of maiming some one for 
life.
Unfortunately some were captured on parking lot security video.

Unlike Chomsky, I get out to some fairly remote places.  Things are 
better than before.
In 1991 I saw people going through the garbage at the hotels in 
Guangzhou with their
bowls and chopsticks.  You don't see that today, and generally the 
standard for everyone is
increased.

A big concern for everyone is that Bernanke's QE2 money is taking the path
of least resistance/greatest opportunity and is flowing directly into 
investments
in China, flowing into the carry trade causing inflation,
and into real estate, further expanding the housing bubble.
