[Peace-discuss] Ambassador of lies

Michael Oren, the American-Israeli Ambassador of Israel to the U.S., writes in
the NYT:

"Israeli leaders subsequently (after 1952) tried to secure a peace treaty with
Nasser, but his rule proved neither progressive nor peace-minded. Instead, his
hostility toward Israel set off two wars, the second of which, the Six-Day War
of 1967, continues to affect the Middle East today."

This is, of course, a shameless lie. When Nasser appropriated the Suez Canal in
1956, Egypt was invaded by Israel, at the behest of Britain and France, who had
controlled it. The 1967 war was a continuation and fulfillment of Israel's
aggressive ambitions, thwarted  by Eisenhower in 1956.
