We tend to be pretty cynical in the US. I posted a note to my Facebook page commenting on the timing of this. It is really interesting that it was announced right on May Day - maybe just a coincidence but maybe not. In general, though, it comes exactly as the attacks on the US working class are reaching a new level.

There have also been reports from several years ago that Obama had been killed back then. Here's one, for instance: http://twocircles.net/2008may30/osama_bin_laden_has_been_dead_december_2001.html. Note that this was posted several years ago. Was it really bin Laden that they killed? We'll never know, I believe.

Of course, there's the hypocrisy on several fronts. The number of people killed in 9/11, even if it was organized by bin Laden, pales in comparison with the number of children that die of hunger and malnutrition, etc. But even on the terrorism front, there was just a report today, for instance, of a Cuban refugee named Bosch who just died. He'd been living in Miami for years, and from this base he'd carried out all sorts of terrorist attacks - only to be protected by the US government.

Finally, there are the celebrations, e.g. at the White House. This is the blood lust that a whole layer of US society harbors, as encouraged by the corporate media. It's like the love of capital punishment, for instance. It's part of the mentality that is encouraged by the Rambo type movies.

I do not support Bin Laden or fundamentalism or acts of terror, however
the stomach wrenching hypocracy of Obama, Blair and Cameron is
staggering. How many civilians have been murdered in Iraq and
Afghanistan, maybe close on 100,000, these are war crimes on a massive
scale. So whilst I lament for all those that lost loved ones on 1011 I
have only disgust for the leaders of imperialism that have centuries of
  blood on their hands.
