This September marks the tenth anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001.
Please join CCR via a national webcast on September 14 or in person at four NYC events (on Sept. 8, 9, 12 & 14) where we will reflect on the last ten years and discuss ongoing work critical to resisting expanding U.S. wars and ongoing assaults on the civil liberties and human rights of people in the United States and abroad:

    Guantánamo lawyers panel with CCR’s Gitanjali Gutierrez and actress Kathleen Chalfant
    Discussion featuring CCR Executive Director Vince Warren and torture memo author John Yoo
    Forum on the legacy of 9/11 with Vince Warren, Christian Parenti and Sadia Abbas
    CCR nationally webcast panel discussion featuring  CCR’s Michael Ratner, Vincent Warren, Rachel Meeropol and Shayana  Kadidal


When: Thursday, September 8 at 5pm
What: The Guantánamo Lawyers Panel with CCR's Gitanjali Gutierrez and actress Kathleen Chalfant, followed by a new play, co-sponsored by CCR.
Lawyers who represent men detained at Guantánamo and other facilities discuss the significance of ongoing indefinite detention at Guantánamo and address U.S. policies on torture and detention.
Where: Gerald W. Lynch Theater lobby at John  Jay College. 899 Tenth Avenue (at W. 59th St.), NY, NY 10019.
Who: Gitanjali Gutierrez, Senior Staff Attorney at the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR); Jonathan Hafetz, Seton Hall and Rutgers Universities; Martha Rayner, Fordham Law; Alex Abdo, ACLU’s National Security Project; chaired by Kathleen Chalfant, award-winning stage and screen actress, and social justice advocate.
***Followed at 7:30pm by a free dress rehearsal of Another Life, a new play by writer and director Karen Malpede, described as “a whirl-windtrip through the past ten years exploring “subtle but growing resistance” and “questions of complicity and conscience in civil society.”

What: Panel Discussion featuring CCR’s Executive Director Vincent Warren and John Yoo, the former Deputy Assistant Attorney General who authorized torture. “Separation of Powers: The Roles and Inter-Relationships of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches since 9/11”
Where: New York Law School, 185 West Broadway (corner of Church and Worth Streets), New York, NY  10013.

What: Nationally Webcast Panel Discussion: “A Decade of Fighting Terror with Terror: CCR Reflects on 10 Years After 9/11.” 

CCR staff approach the 9/11 anniversary as an opportunity to evaluate the last ten years and map how we will continue resisting abuses of human rights and civil liberties in the years ahead.
