Scheeline distinguished himself a few years back by having a letter in the glossy quarterly Reform Judaism journal supporting gun ownership. That's not the liberal Jewish proclivity, even in the age of Zionism. NRA aside, Scheeline's consistency exposes the hypocrisy of many liberals, and doubtless made them uncomfortable.
