The speech described in the last paragraph below got Eugene Debs
thrown into jail by the vicious Woodrow Wilson, who kept him there
even after the war, because Debs had got so many votes for president.
The Supreme Court supinely accepted Wilson's violations of the First
Amendment with the weasel-words about "fire in a crowded theater."
The "deeply un-American" Espionage Act was used by the federal
government three times in the century from Wilson's day to ours. The
Obama administration has already used it six times.
