Typcal of the WaPo, this article is actually in support of the  
administration's propaganda for the need to continue the killing in  
Afghanistan - while pretending it's bringing it to an end.

Here's the same ridiculous excuse for why Obama gets to kill people in  
SW Asia - "...war is when one side wins and one side loses ... [a]  
strategic defeat of the Taliban ... [so] that ... U.S. troops can come  
home and a safe haven does not re-establish itself.”

Americans are not fools, and when they hear this sort of nonsense they  
recognize it for what it is. More than two thirds want the troops  
home, so Obama's lies in dramatic TV set-ups from Afghanistan have to  
pretend to respond to that.
