So, I'm not sure what value there is is saying that someone should be dismissed--that someone can't help someone else get the needs met that they perceive from their points of view--simply by virtue of the fact that they're looking at another horizon.

The Jains would say all of us (you, me, everyone) can only have a partial understanding of the truth, so let's not fight about it. Understanding that we all have different horizons of view means necessarily taking them into account, rather than trying to exclude or rule any of them out. Ruling them out (as the verb "rule" points to) belies this as a gesture of (attempted) power-over, which in the current context is problematic to say the least.
