Mr. Helbig,

I don't want to believe the worst about my country, however, I KNOW what the facts are, both currently and historicaly, and it is NOT a pretty picture.
Either you support democracy and economic justice or you support war mongering corporate plutocracy.
It is obvious what you support.
Which begs the question, WHY are you still on this list ?

David Johnson

Because it is in Champaign-Urbana and I was looking for people who know Douglas Lind Rokke in Rantoul. Rokke is a con artist who has been playing a role he created about 1999 and he has been spreading lies about depleted uranium and his own military and academic experiences. I was not referring to you, but to David Johnson. I only copied you because you actually were kind enough to suggest that Johnson's addressing me through the list was not really appropriate. Thanks for that.

What amazes me about many alleged "peace activists" is that they have been so taken in by lies just because they want to believe the worst about their own country. I personally believe you never fight lies with bigger lies, but Johnson appears to believe the exact opposite,

          Roger

PS - have you ever met or listened to Rokke? If so, I am his unofficial biographer. He lied about me so I found out the truth about him.

Uh... if you meant ME, there's only one "n" in my first name (blame my parents). However, I'm guessing that the only thing we have in common is unusual name spelling. Why did you join this list??

Mr Johnson, the next time you decide to call me out in the subject line, then I suggest you spell my name correctly - there is no R in the last name - Hell is a big place to hold all the sinners and there is only one L in my last name - got it.

Al Quaeda did not exist prior to the eviction of the Soviet Army from Afghanistan - so your history is a bit suspect too.

                    Thanks, Jennifer.

Lets not forget that the CIA helped to create, finance, arm, train and encourage Al Queda and the Taliban against the populist left-wing government of Afganistan during the late 1970's and most of the 1980's. Lets also not forget the right-wing fanatical Jewish settlers who violently attack unarmed Palestinian civilians including women, old people and children, ALL financed from OUR tax dollars via the corporate controlled U.S. Government, in order to steal their land.
Hebrig is trying to imply from his last post that the U.S. military occupation of Afganistan and yes Iraq ( 100,000 private mercenaries, 50,000 U.S. troops in 12 U.S. military bases and an embassy larger than the Vatican ) is for humanitarian and democracy reasons. Democracy and human rights has NEVER been a priority of the U.S. government since the end of World War II. Its all about corporate control of low wages and cheap natural resources that exclusively benefits the 1 %, at the expense of the rest of us, THE WORKING CLASS !
And yes Hebrig, rather you are in denial or not, YOU are also Working Class !

Religious fundamentalists try to murder girl for seeking education.
The religious fundamentalists the Taliban have tried to murder 14 year old school girl Malala Yousafzai because she spoke out to say she wanted to be a doctor. This is an act of the most extreme and savage barbarity that must be unconditionally condemned by all. The US press is full of indignation about this event. However we need to keep in mind a few things. When it suited them one US government after another worked with the Taliban to try and achieve its aims in Afghanistan and Central Asia, these aims were to hem in Russia and China.

We also have to remember that Saudi Arabia is the most important ally of the US in the Middle East after Israel. And here is what the New York Times has to say about this extreme fundamentalist regime, the friend of the Bush family, the US oil industry and US capitalism. In an article by Nicholas D Kristof in the New York Times October 11th, he wrote: "One of my greatest frustrations when I travel to Pakistan is that I routinely spot extremest madrases, or schools, financed by medieval misogynists from Saudi Arabia or elsewhere. They provide meals, free tuition and sometimes scholarships to lure boys - because their donors understand perfectly that education shapes countries." So these allies and friends of the US capitalist class are financing the very outfits and pushing the very ideas that nurture the Taliban and end up killing young girls.

Like the fundamentalist religious nut cases everywhere, whether in the Islamic world, or the Jewish world or the Christian world, these ideas and people are a threat to a civilized society and especially to women.
