Community Cinema: "Half the Sky"Based on the acclaimed book by the same name, the documentary film Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide follows the book’s authors, Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, and celebrity activists including Meg Ryan, Eva Mendes, and Diane Lane, on a journey through 10 countries to tell the stories of courageous individuals confronting oppression of women and girls and seeking solutions through improved health care, education, and economic empowerment. See a free screening, followed by a discussion, at the library on Tue., Sep. 11, at 6 pm. This event kicks off the fall season of the monthly Community Cinema series, presented by Illinois Public Media, WILL.Radio.TV.Online, and our
 library, in collaboration with Independent Lens and ITVS.
