" In the last 10 years, $2.8 billion of military hardware has been pumped into the South American regions to fight the drug war."
Mainly in Columbia, one of the worst countries in South America for human rights violations and THE WORST country in the WORLD for murders by the government and para-military death squads of Union activists.
Also, the DEA under the smoke screen of " the war on drugs " has been increasingly involved in various Latin American countries internal politics.
Ecuador's democraticly elected President Rafael Correa kicked- the DEA out of his country because of the DEA's attempts to bribe police and military to start a coup against Correa.
In Mexico, the DEA and U.S. drug enforcement military aid has been used against independent Mexican journalists and political activists.
I look forward to the film tonight !

Sunday's Commentary in the News-Gazette had an investigative AP story regarding the
military's 10-year approach to the Drug War. If there be a weariness and an
understanding of the futility and hypocrisy of this policy amongst the citizenry,
there is another endless war on "terror" fabricated for the military contractors to use.
In the last 10 years, $2.8 billion of military hardware has been pumped into the South American regions to fight the drug war. Our soldiers are gradually becoming more involved in a covert
combat battle, read all about, Sunday, Feb. 3 News-Gazette, Commentary Section.

Join us tonight, February 5th at the FREE screening of "The House I LIve In" at the Art Theater, 126 W. Church St, Champaign.
From the film's press release: "There’s a growing recognition among those on all sides that the war on drugs is a failure. At a time of heightened fiscal instability, the drug war is also seen as economically unsustainable. Beyond its human cost at home, the unprecedented violence in Mexico provides a daily reminder of the war’s immense impact abroad, and America has at last begun to take the first meaningful steps toward reform. At this pivotal moment, the film promotes public awareness of the problem while encouraging new and innovative pathways to domestic drug policy reform."
The movie screens at 7:30.

CUCPJ organizers Carol and Aaron Ammons will speak after the film about local efforts to end the War on Drugs and to stop the plans for a new jail.
