Bradley Manning is a soldier for a regime has killed, wounded and made homeless over 20 million human beings in the last 50 years.

What would we say of someone who did what he did while a soldier of the most murderous regime of the previous 50 years (probably the German or Soviet state - if not the US)?

We regard those who revealed the crimes of Germany and the USSR as heroes, as we should. And we praise the most decorated US soldier of that era for his testimony about US crimes (Gen. Smedley Butler, "War is a Racket," 1935).

The moral survival of the US depends on our choosing Snowden, Manning, and Assange over Obama et al.
