Hey friends---

I'm screening two films this week. Each are tremendous--each about
survival. Detropia is about the collapse of manufacturing and financial
crisis in Detroit and the subsequent birth of creative survival in the face
of capitalism. It's created by two women documentarians--the same brilliant
directors responsible for Jesus Camp. Pariah is a feature film about one
queer black girl poet's survival as a marginalized youth. You won't want to
miss both of these films!

All are free. Open to the public. Tell your friends. *If you have a moment,
please circulate this information!*

*Film Screening + Post-Film Discussion | Detropia (2012)*
*Allen Hall Main Lounge | 1005 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana, IL 61801*
*Wednesday, Mar. 13th | 7pm*
Detropia sculpts a dreamlike collage of Detroit teetering on the brink of
dissolution, as soulful pragmatists and stalwart philosophers strive to
make sense of it all, refusing to abandon hope or resistance. Their grit
and pluck embody the spirit of the Motor City as it struggles to survive
postindustrial America and begins to envision a radically different future.
Co-sponsored by Unit One Allen Hall and the Women's Resources Center.
