Dear Ms.
Aram:

I
would
like
to
take
this
time
to
thank
you
for
contacting
me
regarding
the
situation
in
Syria.
As
I
am
sure
you
are
aware
on
August
21st,
2013,
it
was
reported
that
the
Syrian
government
used
chemical
weapons
in
an
attack
on
the
suburbs
of
Damascus.
This
attack
has
raised
many
concerns
here
in
the
U.S.
regarding
whether
or
not
we
should
intervene
in
the
conflict.

First
off,
I
would
like
you
to
know
that
I
find
the
actions
of
the
Syrian
government
to
be
reprehensible.
The
use
of
chemical
weapons
shows
a
blatant
disregard
for
human
life,
and
should
be
condemned
on
an
international
level.
President
Obama
has
already
requested
approval
from
Congress
to
launch
a
limited
military
strike,
but
currently
I
do
not
believe
that
this
is
the
best
course
of
action
for
the
United
States.

Over
the
past
decade
the
U.S.
has
been
engaged
in
conflict
throughout
the
Middle
East
and
during
that
time,
the
American
people
have
grown
weary
of
the
use
of
military
force.
I
want
you
to
know
that
this
is
not
a
decision
which
I
take
lightly,
and
any
decision
which
could
put
the
lives
of
Americans
in
jeopardy
must
be
fully
vetted.
At
this
time,
I
do
not
see
any
evidence
that
shows
Syria
is
a
threat
to
the
U.S.
or
our
allies,
and
until
such
evidence
presents,
itself
I
do
not
believe
that
the
current
situation
warrants
a
military
strike.

Again,
I
would
like
to
thank
you
for
taking
the
time
to
contact
me,
and
please
be
assured
that
I
will
keep
your
views
in
mind
moving
forward.
