Dear Chancellor Wise.

While I would not use the language that the hire in Native American Studies and English used, I think  that the rescinding of the offer is as inappropriate.  His tweets were not in the scholarly domain but in the rough and tumble world of political tweets.  One is also left to wonder if the fact that his obscene ire was directed toward Israel did not play a role here.  There appears to be no question that his research and teaching were worthy.
I am very disappointed in your decision and I would respectfully ask you to reconsider.
