Vonnegut wrote about a Pilgrim who became "un-suck in time" (or something like that) in the midst of a criminal bombing campaign - perhaps fits the present experience to a "t"... 

I think the UI will get away with it, but in years past it would have been easier. The fact that there's been such an outcry is some sort of victory. 

From WWI through Vietnam, universities did such things frequently, and quietly.
