Agreed. I think they just send out form letters in response to any letters they receive, and don't bother reading. Reason I recommend calling our Representatives. I have been informed that the assistants who take the phone calls are required to record what is said. We should of course continue signing petitions.

I appreciate hearing from you. The possibility that Iran intends to develop or acquire nuclear weapons presents the United States, European nations, and the rest of the international community with very real national security concerns. Convincing Iran’s leaders to abide by their nation’s commitments under the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty has proven challenging. The agreement between Brazil, Turkey, and Iran not to develop nuclear weapons is not sufficient. It will take an international effort to apply economic pressure on Iran to prevent that country from developing nuclear weapons capabilities. The United States and our allies should work aggressively to use the political and economic tools at our disposal to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons. In 2010, Congress passed the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act, which extended U.S. economic sanctions placed on Iran under the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 and prohibits companies and individuals from working with Iran’s petroleum sector. The bill contained many provisions of the Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act, which I cosponsored, and was signed into law by the President on July 1, 2010. Additionally, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013 included a provision to impose unilateral sanctions against the Central Bank of Iran, blocking Iranian oil exports. President Obama also has issued a number of Executive Orders to take further steps in strengthening sanctions against Iran.
