Astrid,
Single payer / Medicare for all is a self financing system.
It has nothing to do with Illinois being bankrupt. In fact, if passed it
would save Illinois tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars by
eliminating the private health insurance industry's monopoly control
over healthcare costs to not just individuals but also to those in the
Illinois Medicaid / Medicare program.
It also has NOTHING to do with Obamacare, which is the nemesis to
Medicare for all universal coverage, in that Obamacare's function is to
entrench and expand the corporate private health insurance industry via
fines to individuals for refusing to comply and taxpayer dollars given
to the corporate health insurance industry for inadequate healthcare
coverage.
Not to mention the corporate / privatization of segments of Medicare /
Medicaid via the Medicare Advantage program.
Universal Medicare for All would reverse the wasteful spending via
corporate subsidies to the corporate health insurance industry and at
the same time provide healthcare coverage to EVERYONE,
UNLIKE OBAMACARE !
