  TAKE ACTION

Today, McDonald?s workers were arrested outside of corporate headquarters
for refusing to be silenced.
  Call McDonald's RIGHT NOW: 888-979-7395 <888-979-7395>

Adriana Alvarez has worked at McDonald?s for four years and makes just
$8.75 an hour. She?s fighting for $15 an hour to win a better life for
herself and her two year-old son Manny.

This afternoon, Adriana was arrested outside of McDonald?s corporate
headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois, where hundreds of workers refused to
be silenced before their shareholder meeting.

*Call McDonald?s and tell them you stand with Adriana and the other workers
who were arrested right now: 888-979-7395 <888-979-7395>. *

Adriana was arrested alongside more than 100 of her fellow McDonald?s
employees--*and* SEIU President Mary Kay Henry--while taking part in a
brave act of peaceful civil disobedience. Each of them was standing up for
themselves, the families their wages support and pretty much*every* fast
food worker everywhere. McDonald?s reacted by shutting down the corporate
headquarter building where workers had planned to protest.

*Please show your support for these unbelievably courageous workers by
calling McDonald?s right now: 888-979-7395 <888-979-7395>. *Tell McDonald?s
that you support these workers in their fight for $15 an hour and the right
to form a union without intimidation. Tell them it?s shameful that their
own employees had to be arrested in order to be heard.

Just to be*extra* clear: Workers have already risked a lot by going on
strike in 230 cities around the world last Thursday, in what*MSNBC* called
the "biggest fast food strike ever." It?s even scarier to go straight to
the source and speak up for what they believe in. But Adriana did it, and
so did dozens and dozens of other workers. Pretty amazing, right?!

*Now it?s your turn to speak up for what?s right. Pick up the phone and
call McDonald?s now: 888-979-7395 <888-979-7395>. Leave a voicemail message
if no one picks up. *

The McDonald?s shareholder meeting starts in a little over 12 hours and we
have to make sure they hear us. No one who works for a living should be
forced to live in poverty. No one who works for a corporation that makes
more than $5 billion in profit should have hungry kids at home.

We?ll keep you posted with what?s next.

In solidarity,
Kate Thomas, SEIU.org
