I wonder if anyone will ask Cary Nelson if he supports sanctioning
businesses that boycott Israeli settlements in the West Bank - as
envisioned in the pending Illinois legislation.

Subject: Urgent Update re: Israel on Campus
To: naiman.uiuc at gmail.com

          Hello Robert,

Israel week is starting on campus, as such, unfortunately that means
"Israel Apartheid Week" is also starting this week. What does that mean?
During the main part of the week there will be a large wall on the Quad
that wrongfully accuses Israel of committing humanitarian crimes.
Basically, some students will try to demonize the state of Israel and make
students on campus uncertain about their relation to it.

As leaders of the Jewish and pro-Israel communities

on campus, we strongly object to the harsh

and misleading rhetoric of Israel Apartheid Week. We think that promoting
hate against one side is counter-productive to the goal of mutual assured
peace and coexistence between the Israeli and Palestinian people. Our goal
is to promote a positive message at Illinois that supports the peace
process. We urge you to exercise restraint by NOT engaging in any
confrontations with the people organizing the Apartheid Week and the Wall.

HOW CAN YOU HELP? Good question!

Illini Students Supporting Israel, Illinipac, Illini Chabad, Illini Hillel,
and JET have worked together to create this year's Israel Week, which is a
variety of engaging programs designed to connect students to the state of
Israel. Feel free to join us at any point during the week and learn about
more ways to support Israel. The schedule is listed below. Make sure to
