President Obama is making war in eight countries;
he is sending U.S. ‘special forces’ into more than 3/4 of the countries around the world; he has assassinated thousands  by drone - the most extreme terrorist campaign of modern times; and he is provoking war with Russia and China.

Contact the president (202-456-1111) and our representatives in Congress (202-224-3121): tell them to end the wars and drone attacks, cut military spending by at least half, bring the troops home, and close the US military’s 1,000 foreign bases; stop US support for - and 
arms sales to - human rights abusers like Israel, and lead on global nuclear disarmament.

HOW DO WE STOP TERRORISM?

In continuing wars around the world, President Obama is bombing 8 countries - two more than President Bush: Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, Yemen,  and the Philippines.

President Obama claims that he has ended two wars - Afghanistan and Iraq - but he is not telling the truth. The Obama administration announced in October that they would maintain 9,800 U.S. troops in Afghanistan through the end of Obama’s term in office; meanwhile, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (which the U.S. effectively runs) will have about 12,000 troops in Afghanistan, made up of about 7,000 U.S. forces and 5,000 from the rest of NATO and countries such as non-NATO member Georgia; and the administration announced this week that they are increasing U.S. “special operations forces” in Iraq as part of an expanded war against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS or ISIL).

Most Americans are unaware that the president’s drone attacks continue (the NY Times says he chooses the targets himself) and have already killed more than 6,000 people - including U.S. citizens and hundreds of children; nor that he commands an 80,000-member private presidential army, the ‘special operations forces' (who report only to the president’s National Security Council) - active by their own account in 75% of the countries of the world; their activities include kidnapping, torture, and murder. No wonder we're hated around the world.

Phyllis Bennis, director of the New Internationalism Project at the Institute for Policy Studies, points out what President Obama must do to end terrorism:
~ Pursue diplomacy and negotiations to end the wars in Syria, including the governments of Iran, Russia and Syria
~ Remove all foreign troops from Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Pakistan, Ukraine, and Somalia, and pursue diplomacy and negotiations to end the wars, including the relevant governments
~ Honor the commitment not to move NATO any closer to Russia from Western Europe
~ Remove all NATO troops from the Russian borders; retire the Cold War NATO Alliance
~ Accept and abide by the human rights of the millions of refugees created in these wars
~ Support peaceful negotiations among nations bordering the South China Sea, based on the United Nations Charter and the Law of the Sea

The Obama administration must also cancel its undemocratic trade pacts, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) - which have been arranged in secret because the administration knows that U.S. citizens would recognize that they are in the interests only of the U.S. 1% and other economic elites - and against the interests of the majority of Americans and others.
