[Peace-discuss] Film - " CITIZEN 4 "

Last night I went to see the film " CITIZEN 4 " at the Art Theatre in
downtown Champaign.

For those of you who don't know, this is the latest film by Laura Poitras
whose two previous films : " My Country My Country " ( 2006 ) about the life
of everyday Iraqis living under the u.S. occupation and " The Oath " ( 2010
) about Guantanamo concentration camp, which were nominated for multiple
awards and resulted in Ms. Poitras being detained and questioned by U.S.
Customs agents every time she returned from a trip abroad.

CITIZEN 4 is about Edward Snowden, filmed in Hong Kong immediately after
Snowden left the u.S. and shortly before his disclosures of classified
information about NSA spying on Americans.

Glen Greenwald and William Binney ( NSA whistle blower ) are also in the
film.

Other segments of the film are filmed in : Rio de Janeiro, Berlin, and
Moscow.

 

A very excellent and interesting film, I highly recommend it.

 

Despite the freezing -17 degree weather last night, the Art Theatre was
packed with viewers.

 

For those living in Champaign-Urbana IL. , they are holding the film over
one more day for one final showing at 5pm today ( THur. Jan 8th ).
