[Peace-discuss] Proposed flyer for AWARE demo Sat. 1 Aug.

Carl, this is really good, you covered at least one hundred years of US imperialism and intervention etc. in under 750 words. It's good because it gives us bullet points of information and history. People can research the details on their own if they like. And, it took you mere minutes to accomplish.

OK, here’s McCoy/Mackinder reduced to under 750 words. I think Swanson’s piece makes a better flyer, but I’m persuadable.]

I’m not sure we can say we’re opposing the war unless we oppose those who make the effective decisions about war-making.
Not to do so acquiesces in the “Obama couldn’t do anything else” line, and that’s false.
We could try to edit McCoy (and throw in Brzezinski, to bring it up to date), but I’m afraid Karen’s initial critique ("good for the politically aware, but for novices”) would apply even more to that. I’ll give a shot, so to speak, but I’m partial to Swanson.

Though it is not close to being a page-long piece, I'd be happy to sift it for quotable fragments. This is the piece, again: http://www.tomdispatch.com/post/176007/tomgram%3A_alfred_mccoy%2C_washington%27s_great_game_and_why_it%27s_failing_/On 7/20/15 3:10 PM, Karen Aram via Peace-discuss wrote:
To be frank, AWARE demos should focus on US imperialism, hegemony, provocation and war mongering. I would like to make people aware of the recent release of the Pentagon report which commits us to war in spite of the lack of aggression on the part of Russia, China, Iran etc.
Engaging in electoral distractions does not educate, it merely agitates.

I would have to agree. The writing here is targeting an audience that is probably already in agreement with the author. If the intention is to bring new information to those who don't have it, I'd suggest providing more background on the information provided in the article. But that's possibly what you meant by "suitably edited".

How about a suitably edited version of the following as the verso, the recto being our usual general description of AWARE’s purpose?
