    Dear Members,

Last week we had our annual General Membership Meeting, where we voted 
on updates to the bylaws and elected a new Board of Directors.

The UCIMC 2017 Board of Directors includes new members Austin McCann, 
Carolyn Randolph-Kato, and Lily Wilcock, and returning members Barry 
Todd, Chris Evans, George Hardebeck, Lisa Haynes, Lolita Dumas, Mark 
Enslin, Michelle Jett, Paul Mueth, Robert King, and Rohn Koester.

In addition to the elections, we also had a spirited discussion about 
the accessibility of the Board of Directors and the process when someone 
has a grievance or feels an act of discrimination has taken place at the 
IMC. We heard you and we will address both of these issues in detail.

Here are two immediate remedies to the concern regarding access to the 
Board. If you would like to contact the Board, please email 
directors at ucimc.org <mailto:directors at ucimc.org>. If you would like to 
know who is on the Board, minutes from the last meeting, or meeting 
schedule, you can find all of that information here.

If any community gathering place in Urbana has room for practicing 
reconciliation and restorative justice, it has been and, in continuing 
this spirit, should be, the IMC. We have held one meeting, so far, for 
seeking to restore relations, regarding one of the shared concerns 
mentioned at the membership meeting. These and like concerns fall right 
in line with those we hope to develop conversation for as growing IMC 
tradition. We all feel the pain of such concern and controversy, and 
look forward to nurturing resolve and seeking harmony together for our 
community, with the IMC as an apt vehicle for sharing such healing 
work. As for developing a process for addressing grievances and 
discrimination, this issue deserves thoughtful, serious consideration 
and extensive input and conversation between the membership and the 
Board. We will propose a path forward on this issue by the end of the 
year. In the meantime, if you have a suggestion, please share it with us

We have a lot of wonderful things happening at the IMC right now - 
including being fully staffed with dedicated and skilled employees, 
Brian Dolinar as Program Director, Blair Ebony Smith as Program 
Coordinator of NEA Grant, and LATondra Creighton as our Operations 
Director. Our Programming Committee has been an invigorating force of

An art opening for Lynn Anderson will be held Saturday December 10, 
5-7pm. Lynn Anderson is a Chicago based photographer who works primarily
