Yes, “the statement 'Trump is a fascist' stands or falls on its own merits” - which are not very great…

But it’s being used to delegitimize the Trump presidency, because of his challenges to the neoliberal (more inequality) and neocon (more war) policies of the Obama administration.

If the political establishment cannot displace him (and they haven’t given up), they can at least neutralize those challenges:
