Yes, the “leading political commentator” (as so often for me, since I first heard him speak, over 40 years ago) is Noam Chomsky.

And you’re right about the NG's writing their own titles for letters ('guest commentaries,’ too), but my original wasn’t too different (if more grammatical): “Why the anti-war movement welcomes the new administration.”
