I wish to add, that when I see statements by those concerned with Iranian intervention, I see “USG handwriting” all over it. 
Iranians have economic problems and some may concern themselves with their military being involved in Syria as a result. 
However, Syria is a stepping stone to Iran, for the US, so the concern by either Iranians or Americans should be with US foreign policy of intervention in the Middle East.
