This article on Counterpunch by Andrew Stewart, is problematic, but it makes a good point. We shouldn’t rely only upon Wikipedia for information related to those leaders or vanguard members of organizations that have so much influence on so many today.

I would like to know more about Max Schatzman, credited with being the founder of the current ISO. His anti-communist, anti-Stalin opinions provided by the Counterpunch article, is important as it may explain why the ISO today is negative towards groups like the PSL and “anti-war activists” referring to them as Assadists in relation to Syria. They focus very little on foreign policy, is this the legacy of Schatzman?

I would add this article, referred to on the program, although it's problematic especially regarding Harrington.

{INTRO} Good evening, & welcome to News from Neptune for the 37th week of 2018. I’m Carl Estabrook.

Historians consider a generation to be about 25 years - roughly the time it takes for you to get to the age your parents are now.

For more than a generation, this program has been a weekly hour of spontaneous & unrehearsed discussion of the news of the week and its coverage by the media - first, on a so-called community radio station - and now via Urbana Public TV and YouTube. (Earlier editions of this program are available at <archive.org<http://archive.org/>>. )

I’m now the age my parents would have been when we started the program. It’s not been an encouraging trip.

Our program’s name, News from Neptune, comes from Noam Chomsky, who’s been writing sensible things about U.S. politics for more than twice as long as we’ve ben on the air. Chomsky says that in the U.S. media, “Either you repeat the same conventional doctrines everybody is saying, or else you say something true, and it will sound like it’s from Neptune.”

Tonight David Green & I - will try to say some true things with thanks to Dr Know, J. B. Nicholson, for research. Know’s Notes are posted on the NEWS FROM NEPTUNE fb page

We try to bear in mind the murdered Rosa Luxemburg’s remark, from a century ago
“The most revolutionary thing one can do is always to proclaim loudly what is happening.”

This is a “listing to port” edition (for a hurricane weekend). We’ll present lists of news stories that are generally ignored. Listing also means leaning - as port means ‘left.’ As antiquated as the left/right distinction may be in politics, we may say that this program leans to the left - i.e., lists to port.

{OUTRO} You've been watching News from Neptune for the 37th week of 2018. News From Neptune is presented by Carl Estabrook & David Green. It is produced & directed by Jason Liggett & Ethan Young, with Andrew Scolari). This has been a “Listing to Port” edition.

Our thanks to Research Director Dr. Know, J. B. Nicholson, the Third Man on News From Neptune - “Know’s Notes” are posted on the fb page for NFN

Inshallah, we’ll be back next week with a new edition of News From Neptune - to remind you, in the words of Edward de Vere (in The Tempest),

“...what’s past is prologue, what to come
In yours and my discharge.”

In the meantime, confusion to our enemies, and a good night to you.
