Illinois Program for Reseearch in the Humanities invite you to attend
a panel discussion:

"The War on Terrorism": Long Term Issues and Implications
    Tuesday, 23 October, 2001
     7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
  228 Natural History Building,
  1301 W. Green St., Urbana

"The War on Terrorism" has so far led to new alliances involving
countries with different and, in some cases, conflicting interests.
It has raised questions
about U.S. foreign policy in South Asia and the Middle East, the
Arab-Israeli and Pakistan-India conflicts, the proliferation of
non-conventional weapons,
U.S. relations with Iran, and the issue of the absence or weakness of
democratic and civil society institutions in most countries of the
area.

    Speakers:
     Badredine Arfi, Political Science, UIUC
   Hadi Esfahani, Economics, UIUC
Jamal Nassar, Political Science, UIUC (Note from ISU, I think)
Cliff Singer, Nuclear Engineering and Director, ACDIS, UIUC
  Moderator:
Ken Cuno, History, UIUC
