[Peace] Teach-in and Bears Game

Hi all,

I cannot speak for the whole teach-in committee but here are my thoughts-

It is great that an engagement of Bears fans will be taking place
on the 8th - and I will help to publicize this, and hopefully participate...

However, I think its too late to add this information to the teach-in
flyers-

First, they're already printed, many have already be copied (now
with the correct date!!) and distributed-

Also, when co-sponsors were approached about endorsing the teach-in
they were given information that appears on the flyer only... I doubt
that many would have a problem endorsing a street demo but we can't
just make that assumption - without having checked. So at this point, less
than 2 weeks before the event, we really need to move forward with
getting teach-in flyers out and up...

So, my vote would be to keep the teach-in flyer as is, but work with
those organizing the street demo in any way we can...

I wonder if organizers of the teach-in wouldn't mind altering the flyer to
add the demonstration/engagement of Bears' fans on Sunday, Sept. 8th from
10:30am - noon on the corner of State Street and Kirby Ave. in Champaign?
Game time is noon.

I realize that the teach-in has been months in the planning and a fantastic
flyer has already been made.  This is merely a request.  I'll certainly
understand if there isn't any interest in adding this information.  It might
be asking too much given all of the energy and effort that has and will go
into the teach-in.  Just a thought.

>From my perspective, participating in an anti-war demonstration/engagement
with Bears' fans JUST BEFORE the teach-in will give people a very valuable
perspective on how to reach ambivalent folks (folks who won't already know
about the teach-in or AWARE), how to inspire those who agree with us to
action and how not to engage with folks who say
"Nuke 'em!"  Talking with the "masses" is a humbling experience.
