I'm skeptical of this.  The removal of Lott will simply get a ML more
subservient to the White House, like Bill Frist (R-TN).  And now that he
knows that the president's men have tried to get him removed, Lott might
be more willing to countenance criticism of the administration (not, I
admit, from the best of motives).

Given the vicissitudes, I think we should support Lott.
