Hi,

Oops, I didn't include details about Thursday. A.W.A.R.E. is sponsoring
this event.l

The Lawrence Livermore Bomb-Making Laborator will intervew students at the
Illini Union building from 8:30 to 4:30 PM. We will have a "two-pronged"
response-- There will be leafletting of students for as much of this time
as we can have people there (I'll be able to be there from about 9:30 to
4PM, but don't want to be alone while I do it, so I'll hopefully be able to
get some help-- if not, I'll leaflet when people can come).

We'll be trying to concentrate people there from NOON TO 2PM. Mark Enslin
and Clint Popetz (with his stilts) , and maybe others, will arrive around
NOON and will be there putting together something eye-catching and possibly
ear-catching as well. Members of Student Peace Action will be there, as
well, and I have also had other responses.

Please, anyone who is interested, let me know (by e-mail or telephone 217
352-3670), but please come even if you don't let us know in advance.

Signs would be WONDERFUL. Hopefully we'll also be able to make some up
tomorrow night. Suggestions: "A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waste"; "No
Careers In Bombs", etc.

One focal point is going to be the Scientists' Pledge, which is being
circulated nationwide, urging scientists to pledge not to use their skills
for mass destruction. There will be copies available, along with a letter
form a scientist who quit his job at the Lab when he found he had been lied
to and his work was being used to build a bomb.

Thanks everyone for your support. I totally understand if you all are
busy-- it's in the middle of the week. I don't want to sound pushy-- I
just wanted to be sure people knew so those who would like to come can be
there.

Peace,
Barbaa

P.S. The Lab is also coming to the University of Wisconsin the same day as
here. It looks like people there will have a similar action-- so they may
be receiving a double greeting on Valentine's Day. Love over War!
