[Prof. Mir Ali is Chairperson, Structures Division,
School of Architecture, UIUC.  He has
Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Structural Engineering
from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and BSc. in
Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of
Engineering and Technology.

Prof. Ali teaches courses in structural analysis and
concrete design.  His research interests include
developing innovative solutions to major structural
problems in Engineering Practice, tall buildings,
flood-proof habitation, and earth-quake engineering.

Prof. Ali is a fellow of American Society of Civil
Engineers, and member of Council of Tall Buildings and
Urban Habitats.  He has edited several books
including:  Architecture of Tall Buildings and has
authored Art of the Skyscraper: The Genius of Fazlur
Khan. 2001.
