This special is an exploration of the costs of homeland security, with all
its implications. It will focus on the freedom versus security debate,
including the ramifications of the U.S. Patriot Act, with the resultant
compromises and conflicts in terms of civil liberties, civil rights, due
process, America's traditional embrace of immigrants and newcomers, and in
convenience to everyday life.
