Hi, all.
Mark your calendars and set your VCRs for two more powerful documentaries on
race and civil rights and US history on WILL-TV this Friday. And don't
forget to check-out the accompanying Web sites for lots of extra
information.
RACE: THE POWER OF ILLUSION - 9pm Friday, July 18 on WILL-TV
The Story We Tell - Part 2 of 3
Ancient peoples stigmatized 'others' on the grounds of language, custom,
class and especially religion, but they did not sort people into races. 'The
Story We Tell' traces the origins of the racial idea to the European
conquest of the Americas and to the American slave system, the first ever
where all the slaves shared a physical trait: dark skin.

OF CIVIL WRONGS AND RIGHTS (P.O.V.) - 10pm Friday, July 18 on WILL-TV
Fred Korematsu was probably never more American than when he resisted, and
then challenged in court, the forced internment of Japanese-Americans during
World War II. Korematsu lost his landmark Supreme Court case in 1944, but
never his indignation and resolve. OF CIVIL WRONGS AND RIGHTS is the untold
history of the 40-year legal fight to vindicate Korematsu - one that finally
turned a civil injustice into a civil rights victory.
