Each night during the RNC, WEFT a discussion of election  issues covered and
not covered by mainstream media from the perspective of people locally
involved in politics.  Please tune-in.  We'll also be taking listener phone
calls, including those from local folks protesting in NYC.

Host: Eddie Ramos, co-host of "North, South, East ad WEFT," Thursdays 2-4pm

Vacellia Clark, Anna Wall Scott, Jen Walling and Zach Miller and others (via

Jen Walling is the convener and media contact for the Prairie Green Party of
East Central Illinois and an elected member of the coordinated campaign
committee of the Green Party of the United States.  She is a second year law
student at the University of Illinois.

Vacellia Clark has been a member of this community for over 30 years.  She's
passionate about the preservation of human and civil rights for all people.
Vacellia has a keen interest in the political process in this country. She
feels that "we the people" not only have a civic responsibility but a moral
one as well to be informed and participate in our government. 

Anna Wall Scott is active in the Republican Party, serving as the recently
elected Corresponding Secretary of the Champaign County Republican Women's
Organization. She is a professor of sociology as Parkland College.

Zach Miller is co-founder and Secretary of the Prairie Greens of East
Central Illinois and candidate for Champaign County Board in District 9.

Host: Paul Riismandel, host of "Media Geek," 5:30pm Fridays

Guests: Ed Mandel, Thomas MacKaman and Zach Miller (via cell phone in NYC)

Ed Mandel hosts the "Tuesday Morning Express" radio show on WEFT & screens
calls for "News from Neptune" & "Higher Ground". He has endured 4 years of
hosting David Barsamian's "Alternative Radio" every Saturday morning. He has
been elected to the Board of Directors of WEFT for two terms. A defining
political moment for him was a the Ross Perot rally in New Jersey a week
before the election in 1992.

Thomas MacKaman is a graduate student in history at the University of
Illinois. He is a candidate for 103rd state representative on the Socialist
Equality Party ticket.

Zach Miller is co-founder and Secretary of the Prairie Greens of East
Central Illinois and candidate for Champaign County Board in District 9.

Wednesday, September 1, 2004
Host: Kimberlie Kranich, co-host of "Womyn Making Waves," 1-3pm Sundays

Guests: Cleveland Jefferson and Michael Frerichs 

Cleveland Jefferson is an independent.  He is alternating host of "Straight
Talk Live" on Black-owned-and-operated radio station, WBCP-AM 1580 in
Champaign.

Michael Frerichs is a Democrat from Rantoul.   He serves as Champaign County
auditor and was elected to the Champaign County Board.

Thursday, September 2, 2004

Guests:  Jason Barickman, Kathy Ennen, Ken Urban

Kathy Ennen is serving her second four-year term on the Champaign City
Council, first elected in April 1999. She recently completed her Ph.D. in
Nursing Science at Univ of Illinois in Chicago and is currently employed as
an Assistant Professor at Lakeview College of Nursing in Danville, Illinois.
She is a Democrat.

Jason Barickman is the chairman of the Champaign County Young Republicans,
works in the Office of Governor Jim Edgar at the Institute of Government &
Public Affairs, and is entering his third year of law school.

Ken Urban is a professor of computer science at Parkland College.  He's
active locally with AWARE (Anti-War Anti-Racism Effort) and the Prairie
Green Party. Mr. Urban is a candidate for County Board in District 7.
