[Peace] Coalition for Citizen Police Review: Meeting THIS THURSDAY

The Coalition for Citizen Police Review will meet this Thursday at 6:30pm at the Douglass Center at 5th and Grove in Champaign.

At our last meeting, we sent letters to potential cosponsors and donors, asking for money for our campaign.  Our goal is for the Urbana City Council to pass our proposal for a Citizen's Police Review Board into law.  We all agree that this is necessary, so now we must proceed with our campaign, which includes these next steps:
1.  Hearing a report from Zach about funding.  Has there been any response to the fundraising letters?
2.  Contacting past and potential cosponsors for funding and other support.  Is anyone willing to take this on?  I can help but cannot be fully responsible at this point.
3.  Collecting signatures and stories.  We need as many signatures on the petition for a CPRB as possible, so City Council members can show the Police Department proof of the public support for the proposal.  WHO CAN AND WILL COLLECT SIGNATURES?!  This should already be happening, and it must happen before our forum.  As we are collecting signatures, we are also hearing and archiving citizen reports of police misconduct, so we can reinforce the need for a CPRB.  
4.  Planning the forum.  Who is taking responsibility for the forum?  When/where is it, and who is going to make sure it goes as planned?
