Folks, here is the notice for our forthcoming discussion.

This Sunday from 1 to 2:30, Cliff Thornton will be stopping by the IMC
to discuss the war on drugs and anti-racism work with AWARE members.
Cliff is the founder of Efficacy (www.efficacy-online.org) and is in
town for Forgiveness Weekend. Cliff travels the world to help build
coalitions to better fight racism and war.

Cliff will explain how the war on drugs is by far the biggest problem
facing African-Americans, although many of them do not realize it. He
will talk about how most of the country does not fully understand how
bad things have gotten because of the war on drugs. Cliff will share
this and other perspectives, in order to help members contextualize
their anti-war and anti-racism work.

The discussion will include ample time for questions and strategizing,
and Cliff and Danielle will illustrate examples of white privilege
through stories related mostly to the war on drugs. Organizers of the
discussion hope it will help facilitate future anti-racism coalitions
and organizing.
