What is Permaculture?
Permaculture is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally
productive ecosystems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience
of natural ecosystems. It is the integration of landscape and people
providing their food, energy, shelter, and other material and non-material
needs. Permaculture borrows from ecology, engineering, and landscape
design. Permaculture takes a set of observations of the natural world, and
reformulates them as design tools for building systems that can maintain
themselves as a human society.

Who is Murad?
Murad is a friend of local Permaculture designers in Urbana. In the 1990s,
Murad developed a Permaculture project in the West Bank village of Marda.
Murad will speak about using Permaculture design to meet people's needs in
Palestine, and also the challenges facing Permaculture in Palestine. This
event will offer an introduction to Permaculture, Murad, and his project,
served with a slideshow and delicious dinner.

How much does this event cost?
Minimum donation is $5 to cover food costs.
All additional proceeds will go to the rebuilding of the Marda
Permaculture Project.
