FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Lands of Enchantment: Protecting the Grasslands of Otero
Mesa and Wilderness in New Mexico

Thursday, October 20th at 7 p.m.
University of Illinois, Room 160 English Building
608 South Wright St.
Urbana, IL

Come see a multimedia presentation on Otero Mesa, America's
wildest and most threatened grassland. Federal efforts to
drill have been stopped by a strong coalition of
conservation groups, ranchers and even Governor Bill
Richardson of New Mexico. Authentic New Mexican salsa will
be provided, as well as opportunities to join in protecting
these areas.

The New Mexico Wilderness Alliance has developed this multi-
media DVD presentation in order to highlight the beauty of
Otero Mesa as well as the dynamic campaign to "Keep it Wild"
and free from drilling. This campaign corresponds with
efforts to protect other wild public lands, most notably
the Arctic Refuge. New Mexico's wild lands, from high
mountain valleys to low desert playas are shown in a
slideshow presentation. Most important are ways to join in
protecting these wild places that range from letter writing
and petition signing to on the ground experiences in New
Mexico, along with authentic New Mexican salsa and other
free gifts.
