I'll just change this to read "all available peaceful tools." Otherwise
we become that which we are against.
I just happened to be "watching" Law and Order last night while cooking
some Haitian Rice and Beans. The episode was about a peace activist who
got into a deadly argument with the father of soldier who had died in
service. This episode's depiction of the peace activist was mostly
horrible! Yelling and calling the man and his son names. The last line
involved the lawyers walking away saying "The jury was mostly people who
sided with the angry father because the people who avoid military
service also avoid jury service." It was even worse than 'avoid'. I
don't know about others, but I strongly believe in serving on juries.
I'd like to say a few words about rice and beans. Wonderful food.
Complementary proteins (rice and beans both have proteins). Does not
spoil quickly. Great for places where refrigeration is a problem. And
you can choose your favorite variety of spiciness or lack thereof by
choosing a recipe from places like the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba,
New Orleans, Mexico, or just about anywhere where poor people live. And
by the way, homemade spiced rum is really good.
So, eat well, share good tips, and live peace,
