This spring, the Illinois Disciples Foundation (IDF) is proud to present
our 5th Human Rights Film Series. On March 16th, the series will continue
with two labor rights films: "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price" and
"Lockout 484." SEE BOTTOM OF E-MAIL ON HOW TO TAKE ACTION!

WAL-MART: THE HIGH COST OF LOW PRICE is a feature length documentary that
uncovers a retail giant's assault on families and American values. The
film dives into the deeply personal stories and everyday lives of families
and communities struggling to fight a goliath. A working mother is forced
to turn to public assistance to provide healthcare for her two small
children. A Missouri family loses its business after Wal-Mart is given
over $2 million to open its doors down the road. A community in California
unites, takes on the giant, and wins! For more information, please visit
www.walmartmovie.com.

LOCKOUT 484 will also be shown. In February 2005 Celanese, a major
transnational corporation, bought a chemical plant in the small town of
Meredosia, IL. Celanese demanded up to a 33% cut in pay and a reduction of
health care benefits. When the workers asked for an extension and more
information, the corporation locked them out and replaced them with
unskilled workers. For more information, please visit www.lockout484.org.

The films will be shown with IDF’s newly purchased projector and large
screen. Free snacks will be provided!

Robert Naiman, a longtime activist in the Champaign-Urbana community, will
be facilitating the discussion following the film. He is a member of the
IDF Board and on the Organizing Committee for Jobs With Justice, whose
mission is to improve working people's standard of living, fight for job
security, and protect workers' right to organize.

The films will all begin at 7pm and will be shown at the Illinois
Disciples Foundation.**
