TONIGHT! COME STAND IN SOLIDARITY!

***********************

EMERGENCY PICKET
At the Champaign City Council Mtg.

**Don't Legalize Discrimination**

Tuesday, October 3
Picket: 6:30pm
City Council Meeting: 7pm

Outside of the Champaign City Council Chambers
102 N. Neil St., Champaign

***********************

On Tuesday, October 3, community members and local organizations will be
picketing outside prior to the Champaign City Council meeting. The picket
will begin at 6:30pm to greet City Council members as they enter for their
7pm meeting. Community members will then attend the Champaign City Council
meeting to join together and voice their concerns and opposition to the
proposed changes to the Champaign Human Rights Ordinance.

These proposed changes would in effect legalize discrimination against
citizens who receive Section 8 housing subsidies. These changes would
allow landlords to choose not to rent to those citizens with Section 8
housing, therefore giving landlords the right to discriminate against low
income people by denying them the right to housing opportunities. As a
community, we cannot allow our elected officials to pass such egregious
policies.
