Though not quite a traditional peace issue, environmental questions
are relevant to us all; anyway, some might be interested in this event.
Those with cable can watch it on UPTV too.

Every two years, the election years, the Prairie Group of the Sierra
Club hosts a Political Forum on the Environment, where members of
the audience can ask questions about environmental issues of those
running locally for office. Our next such forum is Tuesday, September
12th, 7 PM at the Urbana City Council Chamber, 400 S. Vine.

What: Political Forum on the Environment

   When: 7 PM, September 12, 2006

Where: Urbana City Council Chamber, 400 S. Vine, Urbana

This is your chance to hear local candidates for Illinois State
Representative, Illinois State Senate, and Representative to the
United States House give their views on environmental issues. Each
candidate will respond to written questions from the audience that
are read by our moderator, Cynthia Hoyle. Since this will be held
in the Urbana City Council Chamber, it will be televised.

Here are the candidates who are invited to be on the panel:

   Illinois House, 103rd District:
Tom Abram (G), Rex Bradfield (R), Naomi Jakobsson (D)

   Illinois Senate, 52nd District:
Mike Frerichs (D), Judy Myers (R), Joe Parnarauskis (SEP*)

U.S. House of Representatives, 15th District:
David Gill (D), representative of Timothy Johnson (R)

   * SEP = Socialist Equality Party
