On March 28th, come see Rev. Charles Bayer speak at a community event
entitled, "Bring Them To Justice: Putting Faith Into Action." Rev. Bayer
will speak to the topics of religious compassion and justice, the role of
progressive religion in addressing social concerns like the war in Iraq,
and how to put faith into action. All too often, conservative
Christians--like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell--have overstepped into
the political arena and completely abandoned those in the margins without
a voice. They have been quick to set aside the needs of their community
for their own political ambitions. However, progressive religious
individuals and groups have been there to bear witness to injustices and
give a voice to the voiceless.

A discussion will follow his talk. The event is FREE and open to the public!

Rev. Charles Bayer is a Disciples of Christ minister, currently residing
in California. His extensive service includes a host of ministerial posts
including University Church in Chicago and First Christian Church in St.
Joseph, MO. He has held lecture positions all over the world and has
published a myriad of works including regular columns for the St. Joseph
Gazette. Most importantly, he has an overall commitment of working for
peace with justice; he is a founding member of the Disciples Justice
Action Network (DJAN). Bayer has also been involved in many crucial issues
affecting those in the margins and served as an expert witness and
consultant to the U.S. House of Representatives' Committee on Post
Secondary Education. He has published multiple books, including "Connect:
Faith Into Action" and "A Resurrected Church" (Chalice Press).

On Thursday, March 29th, Rev. Bayer will also be holding an all-day
workshop for clergy and lay leaders entitled, "Reclaiming The Prophetic
Vision." For more information, please visit
