***PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY and INVITE YOUR FRIENDS!!!***

WHAT: Rally for the Wind Turbine and Sustainability (please wear black to
signify the death of the wind turbine)

WHERE: In front of the Swanland Administrative Building at the corner of 6th
and John

WHEN: 11:30am, December 11th!

There's going to be a rally at the Swanland Administrative building to put
pressure on the Chancellor to get real about sustainability on Campus. After
5 years Chancellor Herman killed the wind turbine project after getting
General Electric (GE) to sign on to the proposal and having the Illinois
Clean Energy Community Foundation commit 2 million dollars to the project.
Over $250,000 has already been spent in legal and administration fees for
this project. We are asking people to wear black to signify the death of the
wind turbine.

It is apparent that Chancellor Herman is NOT serious about sustainability on
campus and is merely appearing to "go green" for PR purposes. This is
evident in the newly created and impotent Office of Sustainability which is
under the purview of the Vice-Chancellor for Public Engagement as well as
killing this Wind Turbine project.

It is also clear that the Chancellor has acted in bad faith with this
project and that there was a lack of transparency about the discussion
process and decision making. The Chancellor planned to announce the
cancellation of the wind turbine project during or after finals week when
students would be gone. He clearly wanted to see this go away while with the
students out of town. BUT WE'RE NOT GOING TO LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS!

So please come to the rally for all or part of the time and wear black.
We'll provide the signs! Tell your friends!

Thank you!
