When about 1.5 million people are in total darkness, the usual response is
to assist them in any way possible. Usually, such a victim can expect aid in
the form of shelter, food, and security until their predicament passes.
However, for the citizens of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli induced energy
blockade of the coastal strip has plunged the most densely populated place
in the world into darkness. And even that has not hindered the brutal
military attack by the Israeli army.

As your eyes pass over these words, more Palestinians are dying from simple
and preventable circumstances. Aside from Palestinians being illegally
executed, people, including children, are being denied their basic human
right of access to medicine and food. This collective punishment that can at
best be described as inhumane has left an entire population at the mercy of
an occupying force.

In order to denounce this crime against humanity, Students for Justice in
Palestine requests your show of solidarity in a protest. The protest will
take place on Tuesday, January 22 at 11 am on the Quad. The objective of
this protest is simple: denounce the collective punishment of the
Palestinian population in the Gaza strip. While different people come from
different backgrounds and hold different beliefs, this is beyond the scope
of this issue. No one, no matter their beliefs, should sit idly as an entire
population waits for bombs in the darkness. Your support and presence is
very much appreciated.
