Did anyone really care for that tall, bald IDF soldier with a British
accent? Not me. This time SJP is planning to *protest/picket* the Quad Day
for Israel put on by IlliniPAC. If you wish to join us, we will be on the
UofI quad, in front of the union, with signs and pickets.

Main Quad, roughly 11-2, but please show up whenever you can...we need
people in order to do the picket!

ALSO, ANYONE who has a Palestinian flag is expected to bring it...there will
be 50 bazillion Israeli flags, so we need all the help we can get. (You can
even pick up free Israel-condoms...)

Dear all,

This week is "Israel Independence Week". On Tuesday, April 20, there will be
a celebration on the quad to commemorate the occasion. In previous years,
this event involved an extravagant and festive display of Israeli flags,
balloons, information about Israel and free food (i.e. falafel, hummus,
etc.).

This, as well as other similar events which take place on the Quad, serve
the purpose of instilling in the mind of every person who passes by that
Israel is a great, problem-free country, while concealing its human rights
and international law violations. This deflects people's attention away from
the systematic oppression of Palestinians and the occupation of their land,
which has been ongoing for decades.

This is the exact opposite of what should be happening. Citizens of the
world have to be concerned about the situation in Palestine. Everyone has to
become more informed and everyone has to act in order to restore justice in
that part of the world.

In an attempt to draw people's attention to the consequences of the
establishment of Israel, the continuation of its policies and what it means
for Palestinians, Students for Justice in Palestine have prepared signs to
be held during the Israeli Quad day this Tuesday. Everyone's support is
needed. At least ten people have to be there at all times. Please open the
link below, sign up for a time slot, forward the message to your friends and
encourage them to come.
